What To Do in Cold Spring This Weekend: October 2–4

Fall has arrived in the Highlands. This weekend brings music on the riverbank, a harvest fair with goats, a craft show that has been running for 56 years, and a handful of workshops where you leave with something you made. Here are the picks for October 2–4, with good places to eat and drink in between.

Ticket availability is current as of Friday, October 2.

Friday, October 2

• Riverside: The Scrub Ups · 6 PM

Live music on the Hudson at Little Stony Point, the riverside preserve cared for by a volunteer group Pete Seeger helped found. Pack a picnic, find a spot by the water, and let the river set the tempo.

• Drinks at Cold Spring Social

Head back into the village and finish the night at Cold Spring Social (formerly BAR-BER) on Main Street, a relaxed spot for a craft beer or a cider after the music.

Saturday, October 3

• Breakfast at Cozy Corner Cafe

Start with empanadas — or eggs benedict, if you're a traditionalist. Jessika Martinez and Ramiro Prolo give their scratch-made breakfast a South American accent. Don't skip the provoleta.

• Cold Spring Farmers' Market

Saturday means the market at Boscobel: around two dozen Hudson Valley farms and makers on the grounds of a riverside estate. Come hungry. Plenty of it is ready to eat as you stroll, from just-picked produce to Signal Fire bread.

• St. Philip's Harvest Fair · 10 AM–2 PM

Goats to pet, faces to paint, and live music at St. Philip's Church in the Highlands. If you have kids in tow, put this one at the top of the list.

• Garrison Craft · Opens 10 AM

Now in its 56th year, Garrison Art Center's juried craft show brings more than 60 artisans to Garrison's Landing — furniture, ceramics, glass, jewelry, fiber art, and more — with live music, regional food vendors, and pottery demonstrations. It runs through Sunday.

• The Bryce Edwards Frivolity Hour · 3:30 PM · 1 seat left

Hot jazz and early-20th-century pop from Bryce Edwards and his quintet at the Philipstown Depot Theatre. There's one seat left. If you want it, don't wait.

• Special Sunset Reading Event · 4 PM · Tickets available

The Chapel Restoration's Sunset Reading Series takes on life's biggest conversation with Death, A Conversation for a Meaningful Life. Authors Leslie Kean and Sebastian Junger join end-of-life practitioners, with music from the Threshold Choir. Thoughtful, gentle, and unlike anything else on the calendar this weekend.

Sunday, October 4

• Integrative Yoga & Meditation · 8:45 AM · Tickets available

Ease into Sunday with yoga in the Garrison Art Center gallery, led by artist and yoga educator Dani Locastro. Your ticket includes same-day entry to Garrison Craft, so stretch first, then shop.

• Needle Felted Pumpkins Workshop · 11 AM · Tickets available

No experience needed. Carlise Azmitia walks you through making a wool pumpkin to take home — the most seasonal souvenir in town. Includes same-day entry to Garrison Craft.

• Grab-and-Go Lunch from J. Murphy's On Main

The woods are calling, so don't wait for a table. Order a grab-and-go lunch from J. Murphy's, the neighborhood pub on upper Main Street, right here on coldspring.town. Pick it up on your way and take it to the trails.

• Wet Felted Bowls Workshop · 2 PM · Tickets available

Loose wool, water, soap, and your own two hands. Two hours later, you have a bowl. Carlise Azmitia's wet-felting workshop is the hands-on way to wrap up craft weekend. Includes same-day entry to Garrison Craft.

• Shopping at The Collective

Three floors of wellness on Main Street, plus a makers market stocked with women-led and local brands. Grab a latte at the Kapé Mo café and take your time browsing.

• The Bird Is Done · 7 PM · Tickets available

Close the weekend at the Philipstown Depot Theatre with a staged reading of Michael Fishman's new work, directed by Jim Semmelman, part of the Sometimes Sundays series. Scripts in hand, story front and center.
