About

The Old Homestead Club building at 144 Main Street was put up in 1908 as the clubhouse of the Old Homestead Club, a Cold Spring men's social organization dating to the late 1800s that hosted gatherings, games and picnics for its members; it once bought the shuffleboard from the defunct Highland House hotel for its basement. The building later housed offices of the Putnam County News & Recorder, and a restoration after 2009 kept its tin ceilings, wainscoting, Douglas fir floors, fireplace and hand-hewn beams. Today it holds offices and shop space, and its columned portico remains one of Main Street's landmark facades.
